Last year I helped the gorgeous burlesque performer Lady Lou with her costume! She had this fabulous idea for her new performance and needed some help getting her costume together. She made her designs and told me what she liked and I got to work creating what she had in mind! Her corset is made from a very beautiful turquoise silk with a bright red satin lining and I used the same red satin for the bias binding around the edges! Finished with 4 suspender attachments and the front decorated with red and silver rhinestones. I then constructed the bustle from a red ostrich feather fan and white ostrichÂ
feather boas. I made a small bustle base, like what would of been constructed in the
late 19th century to support the large skirts of the Victorian period. I then attached this to a stretch belt and then the bustle was added to the top of the red feather fan. I sew the white feather boas into the red bustle frame, so Lady Lou could reveal whats under her bustle in her performance- very cheeky! The rest of the costume was beautifully constructed by herself and I think the final product looks amazing!
