I’ve had a few orders this year for my Carnival candy loop skirt- which I was originally inspired to make after I saw the film Marie Antoinette! For this photo shoot with Hurricane Irina, the costume was made up to look more Burlesque meets Lolita! This outfit pictured here also includes a wine red satin under bust corset and nipple tassels. The loop skirt (Pannier) is made from the same frame as the underskirt frames used in in the 1750’s but I’ve used straight steel boning to keep the structure up!
Another costume idea would be the Victorian bloomers! The inspiration for these bloomers came from when I worked at Atilier Pietro Longhi in Italy and I was working on Napoleonic War military trousers. Another day I would be working on Victorian costumes, like the underwear they wore, and I put the two influences together! This corset I also made whilst I was in Italy. The style is 18th Century and fully boned. The fabric I choose had more of a 1600s influence because of the large print, but I loved this red flock pattern and wanted to use it for my first attempt at an 18th century corset!
