A fabulous exhibition Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in detail, 1700-1915, is now open in Paris, displaying a unique collection of European fashion from men’s, women’s, and children’s garments and accessories.
The original exhibition was held at LACMA in Los Angeles in 2010, it was then presented in Berlin at the German Historical Museum in 2012 and now moved to Paris at Les Arts Décoratifs until 14th April 2013. This beautiful unique collection has many amazing pieces on display, showing the changes in European fashion through 2 centuries of Rococo, Victorian and Edwardian periods.
The fashion silhouette has changed a lot through time. This collection shows a variety of dresses from the
large court ballroom dresses of the Rococo period to the tight corsets, crinolines and bustles of the 1900s, all the way up to the Edwardian fashion and the beginning of World War 1, where fashion really began to change. This collection is delightful and informative. I’d absolutely recommended it to historic costume admirers!
