Monday 17th March saw the premier to the new film Banklady. The film was shown at Kino International in Berlin. Banklady stars Nadeshda Brennicke playing Gisela Werler, who was a notorious bank robber in Hamburg in the 1960s. The film, based on a true story, starts off by showing Gisela’s normal life as a single, 30 year old, working in a wallpaper factory but she had bigger dreams
than this. She meets a man called Hermann and they start a whirlwind romance. Together they begin stealing from banks and became the German equivalent to Bonny and Clyde of the 1920s. I find the fashion from the 60s amazing! I’m also fan of Mad Men, so I think the costume designer did an amazing job in this film with the vintage costumes! The film also stars a good friend of mine, burlesque sensation Marlene von Steenvag and she wears a pink satin and blue lace corset I made for her. The film comes into German cinemas on the 27th March 2014!
