I don’t think I uploaded this image before. I took the above photo of performer, Johanna Blackstone, in the finished product. Johanna commissioned the dress for her opera performances last year. There was a lot of research made before starting this dress and I found this time period fascinating! This photography is taken in the beautiful district of Wannsee, just outside of Berlin’s city centre. The dress includes 18th century stays (corset) and full panniers. The underskirt is made from blue and white Toile de Jouy with lace detail. The jacket is made from steel blue taffeta and I used vintage lace for the sleeve edges. Johanna makes her own wigs, which finished the costume off perfectly! Photo of Johanna in stays and panniers by Hayden Veery.
