My corset course is back! This time I’ll be teaching at Sewability: a fabulous, well-equipped studio based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
I’ll be teaching you how to create your very own beautiful fully-boned Victorian-style corset with busk front opening and intricate lacing down the back. Each bone channel (the scaffolding that gives the corset its shape) will have quality spiral steel boning, which I’ll teach you how to cut and finish. I’ll provide the pattern and the tools – all you need to bring is your own fabric and lining. Everything else (such as the busk, bones, and any additional fabric) can be purchased from the studio itself.
The course will run over 2 days. This year’s opening course takes place in the second week of May. I’m also planning to hold more courses in June and July if you can’t make it this time.
If you are interested in joining me at one of my corset courses, please get in touch via email at: gem@corsets-in-berlin.com
I’m really excited to teach at this new studio as it has all the latest Janome machines, which are wonderful to sew with and easy to use. The studio has lots of tables, plenty of space for cutting out patterns and fabrics, and a massive selection of patterns from Vogue, Butterick, and Simplicty. And as Sewability has its own stock of lace, ribbons, trims and fabrics, you’re never stuck if you forget some of your sewing bits and bobs.
If you’re coming to the course from far away there are plenty of excellent places to stay nearby, including a Travelodge right around the corner. And because the studio is based in Birmingham there are dozens of great restaurants and bars within close proximity if you feel like hitting the town for a cheeky cocktail after a fun day of corsetry!

Are you keeping any more classes during this year since the previous ones turned out so successful? I’m hoping to learn some more of your incredible skills. I tried sewing a corset for myself which was good enough, though of course not as beautiful as the ones you make. Please let me know if you are planning on arranging classes.

WOW! I had no idea you could make corsets yourself! I won’t be able to make it for this course but I might join you in your next course. ChooseWaistTrainer
